It took a lot of effort, but I FINALLY managed to get writing again. The chick lit novel is currently at ~22,000 words, whereas the total number of words I've written this month is 43,165. Last night/this morning I wrote +6500 words. Finally, progress!
A fortune I received in a fortune cookie yesterday: "A ROMANTIC MYSTERY WILL ADD INTEREST TO YOUR LIFE." I think this is a sign that my novel is interesting. Or maybe I'm full of bullshit. Whatever!
A song I'm really liking right now: Love No by The Teenagers. French guys speak-singing, "I'm not in love with you"? I mean, come on. Hell, I'm loving everything by this band. Probably because I haven't actually gone to bed yet (I went running at 5am because that's just how I roll.) Check out Homecoming if you like misogynistic French synthpop. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Ummm why am I not writing my novel right now? Good question. Probably because I'm a failure at life.
I sat down and outlined my original romance novel idea, and I'm actually really liking it now. I have, however, decided against killing off any characters. Sad. I'll just have to save that for another story. In other words, the character I was planning on killing off has been pardoned from his untimely demise... for now.
In an attempt to avoid doing any real work I fiddled with the color scheme of my LJ. A slightly different shade of gray makes it look much better. I also went through my icons and deleted a few that I don't use or don't particularly like, remade a couple, and added two new ones. Now, it's time to return to writing. Or, well, procrastinating from writing. Sigh.

Tonight I am taking a break from writing. I am tired - going to bed at 5am for a week straight is not necessarily conducive to sleeping well - and for a change I can, y'know, try to write a few thousand words BEFORE 10pm. Crazy idea, I know.
In reality, I'm actually taking the night off to read my brand spankin' new (free!) romance novels. Let's just call it "research." Cough.
I've decided that I'm going to skip ahead in my novel a bit because I'm getting a little bored with the last few scenes. In other words, writing about sex has ruined regular writing forever. ( In which I discuss my novel. )
Some new running PRs:
1mi: 7:41
3mi: 24:00 (5k: 24:30ish)
4mi: 31:41

I've come to appreciate a lot of the little things in my everyday life. I thought I'd list some of them out so I can always remember how happy I've been. I'll probably add more thoughts to the list as they come to me.
- Waking up and seeing Ed and Isis sleeping in the same (small) kitty bed
- Choosing which a bubble bath scent that I want to use from my little stash
- Sitting down on the floor or on my bed with a bunch of dollies and/or plushies... and just relaxing
- Going out shopping with Mom
- Talking with Beth on the phone while she walks home from class
- Cooking for Shawn after he gets home from work
- Watching Ed bask in the sunlight in the middle of the day
- Browsing Etsy for new Blythe clothes and accessories
- The proud and accomplished feeling I get after I have my daily workout
- The sense of satisfaction I have after I finish vacuuming the apartment; seeing the apartment look so pretty and clean
- Watching Fru in her ball as she chases Ed around the apartment
- Finding a piece of clothing I had forgotten about in my closet (it always feels brand new!)
- Getting a random text from Shawn during the day that says how much he loves me or misses me
- Holding Fru right before I go to sleep
- Seeing that Gaia and Pet Society have brand new items out for me to try on my avi/pet
- Noticing how much Isis has changed, and seeing how happy, sociable, and relaxed she is now
- My nightly bubble bath
- Hearing Shawn talk to my dollies and plushies
- Feeling fresh and pretty right after I put on a new outfit and my makeup, ready to go out and have fun
- Waking up and finding Isis asleep on my stomach
- Going outside, whether it's warm or cold, and taking photos of my dollies or plushies
- Editing photos
- Ed's crazy-loud purr

Some things about my NaNoWriMo:
32235 total words this month, 11092 of which is my chick lit novel/written in the last 3 days.
I'm keeping a running list of things I want to change in editing. Starting with the protagonist's name. Let's just say, I remembered that "Jon & Kate" exist. Now "Kate" is ruined for me as a name. Well, hell.
I also realized that my story doesn't have much plot beyond the romance, so I've been trying to come up with, well, something else. After some brainstorming I decided to throw in family problems, because that's what I do best, and maybe a murder or two, because that's what I do second best. Killing off characters, that is. Not actually murdering people.
I'm within 500 words of writing the first sex scene. I'm a little nervous. Much like a virgin, touched for the very first time. Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
Also... my protagonist will probably bond with one of her love interests over their mutual love of science fiction. I'm picturing a sex scene in which they talk about their favorite science fiction stories/movies, and when they climax they'll yell out, "Tribbles!" I think I just ruined Star Trek forever. Sorry.

I'd really love to get more Re-ment sets with the donuts. If I would have paid attention at BlytheCon, I would have noticed that every box was marked with which set was inside! And then I would have probably grabbed a few more of the donut sets. >.< Oh well.

Okay, my novel is more chick lit than romance. And I'm okay with that. Really, I am. I just... don't like arrogant assholes, and that's basically the love interest in every romance out there. Fortunately, I just hit 25,000 words written this month (about 4k on this novel), so hey! I'm not a total failure.
( Excerpt from the chick lit story. )
While writing tonight I developed a newfound appreciation for the song "Blinding" by Florence + the Machine. I mean, I love her entire album (BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR), but that song-- oh my god. I want it to be played at my funeral. If that isn't a compliment, I don't know what is. (Click to listen on YouTube.)
No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world

I'm somewhat pleased, and yet utterly horrified. How the hell am I going to write a m/f sex scene? I don't have a vagina! Good god.
In other news, I kind of love Carrie Underwood's new single "Cowboy Casanova." That woman can do no wrong.

I'm in a really shitty mood.
I hate my novel. I want to write something HAPPY. I mean, I know, that's really fucking stupid, but dammit, my novel(s) are so fucking depressing! I just want to slit my wrists like 100 times a day writing them. Well, the desire to slit my wrists is also due in part to how awful my stories are. Because, well. They suck.
I know that angst and depressing shit makes for a good story, but neither of my stories have anything genuinely pleasant happening - it's just angst angst angst REAL BAD SHIT HAPPENS angst angst ambiguous ending. I kind of want to say "screw it" and start writing a romance. A really happy one. With throbbing members - at least two of them, because I dig the dick - and maybe a set of heaving bosoms (just for kicks) and TRUE LOVE and shit.
Oh my fucking god, you guys. THAT'S SUCH A GREAT IDEA. Screw this shit. I'm going to write a motherfuckin' ROMANCE, Y'ALL!!!
(Note: give it 12 hours and I'll be back to writing these pieces of-- stories. I'm a masochist like that.)

That's me and Olin on Halloween!
We didn't do much; we had all these big plans to drive over to Kona and spend Halloween at the block party there, but I got sick again. Boo. Instead, we just did a little trick-o-treating and watched scary movies all night. Well, no, we watched one scary movie, then I was scared, so we watched Lucky # Slevin to get rid of the scary. (That's our favorite movie.)
I had my meeting with Gamestop! My first day of work is Saturday! I work 1-5pm, and one of those hours will be with Kendra, so I'm excited! :) I'm nervous about not being able to handle mean customers, though. Wah.
On Friday, I'm taking the kitten to get spayed, and Oliver to get his second round of FiV vaccinations.
I'm lazy about school, and am probably not going to go next semester.
Also, my house and House B (Echo, Lars, Dez guys) are going to be making a short zombie movie, in which everyone plays as themselves. It is going to be epic.

I'm not really happy with my novel right now. The story isn't really working for me just yet. The last 1500 words went by fast, but other than that everything I've written since Sunday has felt like I've been pulling teeth. I'm beginning to get into writing more character interactions and action-y sequences and less mental meanderings ("I shouldn't do this, but I should! I feel bad, but it's worth it!" blah blah blah), so hopefully it'll get easier from here on out.
But yeah. In spite of my bitching... YOU GUYS. I've written 20k in three days! My best in previous years was 10k by November 3rd. I'm pleased with myself, even if my story is a total piece of shit.
In other news, I shipped all of my documents to South Korea today. I can haz job now?

I had fun dressing up for Halloween on Gaia, but I was happy to change Milk Kittea into a different outfit once Halloween was over with. ^___^ Ironically enough, my new avatar outfit (the non-Halloween one) matches Gaia's event banner right now.

When I made this avi, my original plan was to revolve all my items around the hair. It turned out that she looked like a queen ready for the upcoming holidays-- especially Thanksgiving. I think the rich cranberries and golds are are responsible for that feeling.
At first I was nervous about kind of straying away from my candies and sweets avi theme, but as it turns out, people are still telling me Milk Kittea is giving them toothaches! Someone even asked me if I was made of chocolate. xD I'm glad my theme is still present even if it's not always literal. My new signature reads: "Milk Kittea, from the royal court of Confectionery & the house of Candy."

I'm counting this all as day one because it's only 1am. I wrote it all in about 24.5 hours. 9564 of it was written in 24 hours. I'm down with that.
My story is ever so slowly getting there. I was stupid and started writing the novel I didn't have outlined last night. However, today I went ahead and wrote up an outline (another +2000 words), so I'm pretty much good to go for the rest of this novel. I intend to write +5000 words every day this month, so hopefully I'll have something to show for it.
( Summary of my novel + the first line. )
In other news: I accepted the job offer, I ran 9.5 miles in 1:20:48 (8:31 pace), and I ate far too much leftover Halloween candy today. I may never recover.
